Motifs on Coins

India is a civilization of many images, a culture of many visual feasts and a tradition with rich and artistic designs and motifs. A motif is a decorative image or design, especially a repeated one forming a pattern. 

Indians showed their artistic passion on sculptures of temples and even on the coins. Animals and birds have been their favorite subject of art even from pre-historic periods.
